Two-parent pilot project

Refer a child

We will be working with children who meet the following set of criteria:

  • The child must be referred to the pilot project by an agency (statutory or voluntary) who is already working with the family. If you are a parent who would like their child to be referred by a mentor, please speak to your child’s school or another agency who supports you.
  • Children must be in need of additional adult support, time or attention in their life and be facing a range of difficulties in their home life, such as financial hardship, domestic violence, alcohol and drug misuse, mental health problems, to divorce, bereavement or being a young carer.
  • Children must be aged between 5 and 16 years of age.
  • Children must live in the Boroughs of Camden or Islington.
  • Children must be living in two-parent families, or a home with two main carers present.
  • Both the child and parents or carers must actively want to have a mentor through Friendship Works, understand that it is voluntary for them, and want to take part.
  • The family and home environment must be safe for our volunteers to go into, with no ongoing domestic violence, alcohol or drug misuse (although we do take referrals where parents are on supervised drug and alcohol treatment programmes).
  • We do not take referrals for children who are in foster care, residential care, or other settings where the Local Authority has assumed responsibility for their care.

Forms to download

You will need to download, fill in and return the referral and risk assessment form electronically to our casework team at info@friendshipworks.org.uk.

Please fill out the form as fully as possible and include all information, so that we can get the best picture of the child’s situation and needs.
