Friendship Works are thrilled to have been shortlisted for the Lloyds Bank Community Fund 2013 in Camden. By encouraging people to vote Friendship Works has a good chance to be awarded £3,000 to support our work. You can vote online, via SMS or in branches of Lloyds.
Friendship Works offer a mentoring service for young people in Camden Islington and Southwark. We recruit, train and support adult volunteers who commit to taking a child out three weekends out of four for two years. They offer support, friendship and new opportunities to young people who may not have access to these otherwise.
£3,105 would cover the costs of weekly outings for five children and their mentors for an entire year. Building a long term sustainable friendship helps a child increase confidence, self-esteem and their sense of resilience. It can help a young person raise their expectations for the future
To help us win this award we’re aiming to reach 10,000 votes and you can help by voting for us and asking friends, colleagues and family to vote for us too. It’s really simple and will take just a couple of minutes of your time. You don’t have to live in Camden to vote.
