Mentors needed for teenagers on our waiting list

We currently have a number of teenage boys with mild learning difficulties who have been waiting for the right mentor for over a year. Their learning difficulties mean that they find it hard to make friends their own age, might be struggling at school, or might be nervous in social situations. All of them really want a mentor to spend some time with, just going to the park, or to a cafe for a cup of tea.

Your friendship will give them the chance to do things they’ve never experienced before, and help give them the support they need to get more out of their childhood.

You don’t need to have previous experience of working with young people, be able to play football, or be up to date with the latest teen trends. You just need to be kind, patient and interested in helping someone to explore the world around them.

If you think you could make the time to meet a few times a month to give them support and build a friendship, we’d like to hear from you. Go to www.friendshipworks.org.uk/volunteer to find out more and apply to be a Friendship Works Mentor.
