  • Friendship Works is our flagship mentoring service supporting children and young people in London. Established in 1977, we have forty years of experience of creating and supporting positive friendships between young people in need of support and safe, reliable adult volunteers. Our young people, their parents, and our volunteer mentors all tell us that our service changes young people’s lives for the better.

    Why work with us?

    Our service is voluntary funded, and we need to raise over £400,000 each year, providing great opportunities for your company to have a tangible impact on our work and in the lives of young people in London. Your support could help us give a socially isolated young person access to new opportunities and quality friendship; help to build the self esteem of a child still coming to terms with the impact of witnessing domestic violence; or help a child whose weekends and evenings are spent caring for ill parents, the chance to go out and have fun for a few hours each week.

    Our corporate partners have sponsored existing friendships, enabled us to recruit and train new mentors for young people in our current boroughs (Islington and Camden) and even supported us to expand the geographical scope of our service into brand new London boroughs, as ICAP did when they selected Friendship Works as one of their Charity Day beneficiaries in 2015.

    No matter what size your organisation is, our experienced corporate partnerships team will work with you to develop and tailor a partnership that meets your CSR and employee engagement objectives, whilst transforming the lives of disadvantaged young people in London.

    Ways to work with us

    There are many ways to support us – charity of the year, grant giving, cause related marketing or gifts in kind. Some partners focus on fundraising, whilst others provide strategic pro-bono support, or both!

    We can:

    • Offer a range of fundraising events and ideas which will engage and motivate your employees;
    • Provide opportunities for your employees to utilise their work skills to support us as a service;
    • Help you to achieve corporate social responsibility and business objectives;
    • Develop PR and publicity opportunities.

    Our Partners

    We’re really proud of our corporate partners. Without their support and enthusiasm we wouldn’t have achieved as much in the last five years. Like the friendships we support, every partnership is unique, but the reason for support is the same – to make a lasting difference to the lives of disadvantaged young people in London.

    We were the London Stock Exchange Groups UK Charity Partner from 2012- 2014 and since then have worked hard, developing multi-year  partnerships with London offices of national companies such as Shearman & Sterling, Manulife and Irwin Mitchell and also engaging local business’ in Islington, Camden and Tower Hamlets, such as The Carpenters Arms and Jeroboams to support disadvantaged young people in their community. Our partnership with Dotcom Republic, a digital agency specialising in online strategy, has also allowed our service to grow in new ways, helping us develop Google AdWords online advertising and providing valuable insight into reaching new audiences online.
