Organisation and role overview:

Friendship Works – an established and successful mentoring organisation for vulnerable children and young people is looking for a full-time Caseworker to join our dynamic team. You will be involved in all aspects of establishing and maintaining positive, child led mentoring relationships for children aged 5 to 16, including engaging children and their families in the assessment process and the recruitment, preparation and supervision of volunteer mentors.

You will need a professional qualification in psychotherapy/counselling, education, social work, youth work or a related field, or a minimum of 5 years experience of direct work with children, young people and families. You will have significant experience of working with children and young people and a good understanding of child development. You will be able to relate to people from a wide range of backgrounds and have excellent assessment and communication skills. Good supervision skills are also essential and previous experience of working with volunteers would be an advantage.

Main Responsibilities of the role are to establish and maintain supportive and effective mentoring relationships for vulnerable children and young people by:

• Assessing children and families and providing ongoing support
• Volunteer assessment, training, support and supervision
• Making and supporting new ‘matches’
